SHERRY DOCKINS

Sherry Dockins is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC) and has a Master of Substance Abuse Counseling (MASA) degree. She has over 20 years experience working within the substance abuse field. Her primary clinical experience has been working with adults and adolescences with substance use issues and their families. The past eight years have been dedicated to those who are dually diagnosed with mental illness and substance abuse issues. These services were provided within individual, group and family session modalities. Additionally, she has experience working with survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Sherry is also a faculty member at Illinois Valley Community College, teaching Psychology and Human` Service courses and is a professional speaker.

A holistic, strength based approach, founded on mutual respect, understanding and compassion are used to build positive and productive relationships. This client centered philosophy, enables a true partnership between client and clinician to explore the origins of current life circumstances and together, develop a roadmap to increased happiness, healthiness and wholeness.

Sherry’s education began at Illinois Valley Community College, in Oglesby, Illinois, earning an Associate of Arts and Associates of Science degree. She continued her education with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois and a Master of Art degree in Substance Abuse Counseling (MASA) from the Adler School of Professional Psychology in Chicago, Illinois. She is credentialed as a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor (LCPC), Certified Alcohol and other Drug Counselor (CADC) and an Illinois Certified Domestic Violence Professional (ICDVP).
