Karen L. Washington is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from Bradley University with Bachelors in Social Work, Karen went on to complete her graduate studies at the University of Illinois earning her a Masters of Social Work degree.

As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Karen has worked extensively in a variety of settings including residential and adolescent chemical dependency treatment centers, foster care and private practice. The heart of Karen's therapeutic experience has been related to the treatment of chemical dependency, trauma issues, depression and anxiety and eating disorders. Working from a solution focused/brief intervention background, she is fluent in assisting her clients to accurately identify their issues, assess available options and implement the best solutions to rectify the presenting difficulties.

 

Karen's dedication to the improvement of her community is evident in the many activities she has taken part in over the past two decades. She was a long time volunteer/advocate for the Center for Prevention of Abuse. Karen has also been a past member of the 10th Judicial Circuit's Family Violence Coordinating Council serving on the minority relations committee. Karen coordinated an AT&T Cares Program raising funds for local charities. She also volunteered for Cops for Kids and helped coordinate the Blue Bow Christmas Program at the Neighborhood House. During many summer months, she worked as a Peoria Park District events volunteer. Currently, Karen serves as the chairperson of the Peoria District, National Association of Social Workers.

Karen is the proud mother of two daughters and grandmother of five beautiful grandchildren. For hobbies, Karen enjoys horseback riding, walking and reading.
