Ed Hamann, LCPC, LMFT is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. He has focused his clinical work on couples and families, as well as solution-focused therapy. With his speciality in marriage and family, he is known throughout the community as an expert in couples counseling.
Dr. Hamann is a professor in the Department of Counselor Education at Western Illinois University. For over 30 years, Dr. Hamann has been in the counseling profession and has been preparing students for careers in counseling. He developed and directed a post-masters degree training program in marriage and family therapy in Peoria. Dr. Hamann also developed and coordinated the marriage and family therapy specialization through the Department of Counselor Education at Western Illinois University. Dr. Hamann has been instrumental in instructing and supervising many Peoria area therapists in their efforts towards attaining their certification in the area of marriage and family therapy.
Ed has been published in national and state professional journals and has conducted numerous national and state workshops primarily in the areas of marriage and family therapy. He has been the treasurer of the Illinois Counseling Association and a member of the Board of Directors of the Illinois Association for Marriage and Family.
Dr. Hamann is married and the father of five sons. Ed enjoys spending time with his family as well as biking, hiking, tennis and reading. His experience in family and marriage issues adds a high degree of professionalism, competence, expertise to our practice at Joy Miller & Associates.
